Gasoline Engines

Schaeffer's SP oils work for all gasoline engines.

API SP is a new motor oil specification developed for turbocharged gasoline engines. It has been developed in response to automakers request for engine oils to protect against Low-Speed Pre-Ignition (LSPI). LSPI is an engine condition known to occur in Turbocharged Gasoline Direct Injection (TGDI) engines that can be mitigated by changing the motor oil formulation.

The SP specification is backward compatible with older API specifications. This means that these oils will work in both older and newer engines. 

Testing shows that Schaeffer’s SP gasoline engine oils offer: 

• 7% oxidation improvement.
• 20% iron wear reduction (average).
• 50% less chain wear as shown in the Sequence X test, which runs for 216 hours.
